Craftsmanship
Bracing in progress — every stroke matters
Craftsmanship is not about attention to some of the process—it’s about devotion to every detail. In luthiery, nothing exists in isolation. One joint affects the next. One measurement influences another. Mistakes compound quickly, and so every stroke of the chisel, every cut, every curve must be intentional.
The fit and finish must be of the highest quality—not for vanity, but because precision matters. The soundboard doesn’t just reflect light—it reflects tone. The neck doesn’t just guide the hand—it guides resonance. Every choice, from wood selection to final polish, shapes the voice of the instrument.
Sound is paramount. It must rise above appearance, above ornamentation. The materials I choose are the finest I can find—but they are only raw potential. It’s through intuition, feel, and experience that they become something more. Craftsmanship is the bridge between material and music.
This isn’t a process of shortcuts. It isn’t the mindless use of cookie-cutter patterns or plans. It’s about discipline, care, intuition, experience, and feel. It’s in these things that I find clarity, challenge, growth, and joy.
